Chapter 2

1 I exhort3870 therefore,3767 that, first4412 of all,3956 supplications,1162 prayers,4335 intercessions,1783 and giving of thanks,2169 be made4160 for all3956 men;444

2 For kings,935 and for all3956 that are in authority;5247 that we may lead1236 a quiet2263 and peaceable2272 life979 in all3956 godliness2150 and honesty.4587

3 For this5124 is good2570 and acceptable587 in the sight1799 of God2316 our Savior;4990

4 Who3739 will2309 have all3956 men444 to be saved,4982 and to come2064 to the knowledge1922 of the truth.225

5 For there is one1520 God,2316 and one1520 mediator3316 between God2316 and men,444 the man444 Christ5547 Jesus;2424

6 Who3588 gave1325 himself1438 a ransom487 for all,3956 to be testified3142 in due2398 time.2540

7 Whereunto1519 3739 I am ordained5087 a preacher,2783 and an apostle,652 (I speak3004 the truth225 in Christ,5547 and lie5574 not;) a teacher1320 of the Gentiles1484 in faith4102 and verity.225

8 I will1014 therefore3767 that men435 pray4336 every1722 3956 where,1722 lifting1869 up holy3741 hands,5495 without5565 wrath3709 and doubting.1261

9 In like5615 manner also,2532 that women1135 adorn2885 themselves1438 in modest2887 apparel,2689 with modesty127 and sobriety;4997 not with braided4117 hair,4117 or2228 gold,5557 or2228 pearls,3135 or2228 costly4185 array;2441

10 But (which3739 becomes516 women1135 professing1861 godliness)2317 with good18 works.2041

11 Let the woman1135 learn3129 in silence2271 with all3956 subjection.5292

12 But I suffer2010 not a woman1135 to teach,1321 nor3761 to usurp831 authority831 over the man,435 but to be in silence.2271

13 For Adam76 was first4413 formed,4111 then1534 Eve.2096

14 And Adam76 was not deceived,538 but the woman1135 being deceived538 was in the transgression.3847

15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved4982 in childbearing,5042 if1437 they continue3306 in faith4102 and charity26 and holiness38 with sobriety.4997

1 Отже, перш над усе я благаю чинити молитви, блага́ння, проха́ння, подяки за всіх людей,

2 за царі́в та за всіх, хто при вла́ді, щоб могли ми прова́дити тихе й мирне життя в усякій побожності та чистості.

3 Бо це добре й приємне Спасителеві нашому Богові,

4 що хоче, щоб усі люди спаслися, і прийшли до пізна́ння пра́вди.

5 Один бо є Бог, і один Посере́дник між Богом та людьми́, — люди́на Христос Ісус,

6 що дав Само́го Себе на ви́куп за всіх. Таке було свідо́цтво ча́су свого,

7 на що я поста́влений був за проповідника та за апо́стола, — правду кажу́, не обманюю, — за вчителя поганів у вірі та в правді.

8 Отож, хо́чу я, щоб му́жі чинили моли́тви на кожному місці, підіймаючи чисті руки без гніву та сумніву.

9 Так само й жінки́, — у скромнім убра́нні, з соромли́вістю та неви́нністю, — нехай прикрашають себе не плеті́нням воло́сся, не кошто́вними ша́тами,

10 але добрими вчинками, як то ли́чить жінка́м, що присвячуються на побожність.

11 Нехай жінка навчається мо́вчки в повній покорі.

12 А жінці навчати я не дозволяю, ані панувати над мужем, але бути в мовча́нні.

13 Ада́м бо був створений перше, а Єва потому.

14 І Ада́м не був зве́дений, але, зведена бувши, жінка попала в пере́ступ.

15 Та спасеться вона діторо́дженням, якщо пробува́тиме в вірі й любові, та в посвяті з розвагою.
